Before the common household had access to the Internet, people relied on the news TV channel or newspaper to stay up-to-date with the on-goings of the country. Within the past decade alone, countless websites have been created to spread news to the world. However, the news is never completely true. Several well-known news media are biased to a certain perspective. Often the entire story of an event is warped in some way. As a result, there are arguments over what is considered true or false.
Recently, Trump has commented on certain news medias on the validity of the information they are spreading towards the common people. He claims certain news medias are "fake news" with how they are "the enemy of the American people." What is considered news and what is considered fake news? Everyone interprets information differently. Everyone can look at a painting and have different thoughts of the meaning behind it. Is the news media any different? Everyone can look at recent events posted online and have different perspectives for every single one. While there are certain news media that will attempt to remain neutral, there is still a small amount of bias.

Great point. I also want to say that I get my news from the TV, radio, and even on the computer news feed. News is something that is displayed differently depending on where you are. For an example, California news tend to be hating Trump where as some other states that voted for Trump may have a different opinion if that makes any sense. It all depends on how the people in your area feels about the situation.

Great points. I think it is great that this kind of controversy in media is making people more thoughtful about considering what is a legitimate source of information. I found it very relevant to note that people do interpret things differently.

I completely agree with your sentiment, Vic - it is a nigh impossible feat for a news source to be completely unbiased. In a way, the plethora of news sites available to us right now is overwhelming, and people are easily fooled into spreading incorrect or heavily biased information. However, I think that the availability and abundance of news sites is also pretty amazing. Before, as you said, people would only get their news from a couple sources - the newspaper, and the television, and they were at the mercy of a few groups' bias, and however they wanted to spin a story was how it would be spun. Now, if people simply step outside their bubble, there are so many available sides to a story that, in my opinion, it seems like it would be slightly easier to construe the whole truth based on the many still reputable sources available.

As everyone else, I also agree. Your emotions and values help you interpret a situation. Sometimes it's difficult to hear the other side; but it's definitely needed to confirm that you are not reading fake news.

Hi Vic, you make a great point when you say that people can interpret things differently as they would a painting. I always try to keep my mind open to both sides of a news story because we really don't know the full story, let alone if it's accurate or not.

People can, and do, interpret things differently. I agree with you when you say that there is still a small amount of bias when it comes to the news, so people really do have to remain open-minded when reading news articles.

Before I begin, I have to say this president guy know how to stay on top of the news section EVERY single day the past 6 months or even more. As a president, I wouldn't quickly start saying stuffs like that out of nowhere. especially saying "the media is American enemy" because the medias are somehow against him? I'm from Cambodia, a country with dictatorship and somehow this feel the same to me.

Like everything in life, it is up to us as individuals to determine what is real, or not. What is real to me, may not be to you. Could be a cultural difference, an intellectual one, or merely a difference of opinion. Either way what we owe each other is to be respectful of our differences. It is the differences that make us interesting, not our similarities.

I absolutely despise trump but I do agree with him on one aspect, the media can manipulate people for their own self gain. I am not a big media person but I think that regardless of this, the media will always try to sway things in their favor. But yeah, trump still sucks.

I think the news will always be a huge controversy, I think we need to go back to how news was in the old days and be more fact checked. Now everything is about getting the news out the fastest to the most amount of people and the news will say anything just to claim bragging rights basically to the stories
